Leopard Xcode 3.0 Preview

August 8th, 2006

While the WWDC keynote was, in my opinion, a disappointment, the Xcode 3.0 preview on Apple’s site is quite enticing all by itself. Objective-C 2.0 finally brings garbage collection to the table, which addresses one of those, “When the heck are they going to….?” questions for me. Integration of DTrace-based debugging into the IDE sounds good, too. At this point, I rank Visual Studio 2005 as a clearly superior product to Xcode (just my opinion, folks), so I’m very pleased to see Apple trying some new things (like the syntax highlight ribbon).
